This nice bluish water looks inviting, but it's actually just below the boiling point. I could not capture the activity in a photo, but in the smaller areas in the lower right, you could seen mud puddles actually boiling. The multi-colored pools and splotches will make interesting abstract photos, I think. We hiked about 2.5 miles around and through the lava field in the background. Tough walking in places. This lava flow occurred in the 1970's and came within a couple of miles of taking out a geothermal power plant.
