This is a natural steam geyser around which rocks have been piled. The pile is about my height--5.5 feet--and you could walk right up to it. I'm sure the rocks were hot, but I did not try to touch them. The steam plume changed direction depending on how the wind was blowing--and the wind was blowing at least 30 mph that morning. I actually recorded a short video clip of this as well, because the roaring noise of the escaping steam was very impressive.
